For Employers

How Employer Reviews Work

Members can leave honest reviews of their experience working with you. Here's how reviews work and how to respond.

WorkCampConnect lets members who've worked at your property leave a review of their experience. Reviews appear on your public employer profile and help future candidates decide whether to apply. Here's how the review system works.

Who can leave a review

Only members who have been verified as having worked for you can leave a review. We don't allow anonymous reviews from strangers. The verification happens through one of these signals:

  • The member applied to your listing through WorkCampConnect.
  • You confirmed them as a hire through your dashboard.
  • The member uploaded proof of employment (offer letter, photo at the property, etc.).

What reviews include

Each review contains:

  • A 1-5 star overall rating
  • Sub-ratings for: communication, accuracy of listing, working conditions, pay/benefits
  • A written description of the member's experience (optional)
  • The member's username and approximate dates worked

Review honesty rules

We ask members to follow simple rules:

  • Be honest — describe what you actually experienced, not what you wish had happened.
  • Be specific — "the management" is less useful than "Mike was great about respecting our weekly schedule."
  • No personal attacks or threats.
  • No identifying details about other workers, guests, or family members beyond owners.

Reviews that violate these rules are removed. Members can flag reviews they think violate the rules.

Responding to a review

You can post a public response to any review on your profile, whether positive or negative. To respond:

  1. Go to your dashboard → Company Profile.
  2. Click on the review.
  3. Use the Add Response button.
  4. Submit your reply.

Best practices for responses:

  • Always respond to negative reviews within a few days. Silence reads worse than a measured reply.
  • Acknowledge the reviewer's experience before pivoting to your perspective.
  • Don't argue about facts. Future candidates will judge you on your tone, not on whether you "win" the exchange.
  • Offer a path forward if applicable: "We've since updated our schedule to address this concern."

Disputing a review

If a review contains factual errors, names a worker who never worked for you, or violates our content policy, you can dispute it:

  1. Click the Flag link below the review.
  2. Select the reason and provide details.
  3. Our moderation team reviews within 2 business days.

We don't remove reviews simply because they're negative. We only remove reviews that violate our content policy.

How reviews affect your visibility

Reviews influence how candidates perceive your listings, but they don't affect your priority placement or search ranking. Even employers with mixed reviews receive priority placement on every paid listing. Honest reviews — including the constructive criticism in 3-star reviews — are usually more credible to candidates than 100% glowing 5-star reviews.
