What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They are widely used to keep websites working and to provide information to website operators.
Cookies We Use
WorkCampConnect uses two categories of cookies:
- Essential cookies — required for the Platform to function (login sessions, CSRF protection, cookie-consent memory). These cannot be disabled without breaking site functionality.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 to help us understand how the site is used. These are optional and can be declined via the cookie banner or browser controls (see "Your Consent Choices" below).
We do not use advertising, remarketing, or ad-targeting cookies of any kind.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|

_ga_LMLH1YXJNV |

2 years | Analytics |
All our own essential cookies are set with the Secure and HttpOnly flags, meaning they are only transmitted over HTTPS and cannot be accessed by client-side scripts. GA4 cookies are set by Google and follow Google's standard configuration.
Local Storage
In addition to cookies, we use your browser's local storage for a small number of preferences. Local storage data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.
| Key | Purpose | Type |
|---|---|---|
wcc_poi_layers |
Remembers which map POI layers (fuel, camping, essentials) you have toggled on or off | Preference |
wcc_theme |
Saves your light or dark theme preference | Preference |
wcc_cookie_consent |
Records whether you accepted or declined the cookie banner | Essential |
wcc_jobs_last_visit |
Tracks when you last visited the job board so new listings can be highlighted with a “New” badge | Preference |
You can clear local storage at any time through your browser's developer tools or site data settings.
Third-Party Cookies
Google Analytics 4 is a third-party analytics service provided by Google LLC that sets the _ga and _ga_LMLH1YXJNV cookies listed in the table above. We use it to understand aggregate site traffic and improve the Platform. We do not use GA4 for advertising or ad targeting. See our Privacy Policy (Section 3) for full details about what GA4 collects and how to opt out. GA4 data handling is also governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Cloudflare Turnstile is used on our registration and contact forms to prevent bot submissions. It may set its own cookies per Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Your Consent Choices
When you first visit WorkCampConnect, a cookie banner gives you the option to Accept or Decline non-essential cookies. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) so the banner doesn't reappear.
- Accept — all cookies are allowed, including the Google Analytics 4 cookies listed above.
- Decline — only essential cookies required for the platform to function are set. Google Analytics 4 will not run, and no GA4 cookies will be set.
You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, which will cause the banner to reappear. You can also install Google's official browser opt-out add-on, which blocks GA4 across every GA4-enabled website.
Managing Cookies
You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings. However, because our cookies are essential, disabling them may prevent you from logging in or using the platform.
