Marble Canyon Park covers 2,544 hectares of the Thompson region in British Columbia’s southern interior. It encompasses three lakes: Pavilion Lake, Turquoise Lake, and Crown Lake. This park also offers spectacular views of the Pavilion Mountain Range and its limestone canyon.The shore of Crown Lake, Marble Canyon Park’s most popular area, includes a vehicle-accessible campground. For information, see the camping section. Other popular activities here include fishing and birdwatching. Nearby Hat Creek Ranch showcases local history, including Interior Salish culture. Marble Canyon Park has many geologically significant features. Its limestone canyon is rare in British Columbia. Pavilion Lake, meanwhile, is one of the few places in the world that has freshwater stromatolites. These are coral-like structures formed from the fossilized remains of microorganisms.Busy roads pass through Marble Canyon Park, and the area can be very hot and dry in the summer.
