Willison Creek – Nelson Lake/Sít' Héeni Conservancy

British Columbia

Willison Creek – Nelson Lake/Sít’ Héeni Conservancy was established as a result of the Wóoshtin Wudidaa Atlin Taku Land Use Plan and Taku River Tlingit First Nation Strategic Engagement Agreement. The conservancy abuts Atlin Park and includes Willison Bay, Nelson Lake and a portion of Edgar Lake. The area contains high value goat habitat and recreational access to the Juneau Icefield. The Tlingit name (Sít’ Héeni) means “glacier water”. The conservancy is located approximately 40 kilometres southwest of Atlin, in the asserted traditional territory of the Taku River Tlingit and Carcross/Tagish First Nations.
