Getting Started with the Member Map

What Is the Member Map?

The WorkCampConnect Member Map is an interactive map that shows where work campers are located across the country. It’s a great way to find nearby members, see who’s at a campground you’re headed to, or simply get a sense of the community’s reach.

Base Camp vs. Full Hookup Map Access

  • Base Camp (Free) — You can browse the map and see member pins, but you cannot place your own pin or interact with pin details.
  • Full Hookup (Paid) — Full access to browse the map, view all member pins and their details, and place your own pin with full control over location, precision, visibility, and expiration.

Adding Your Pin to the Map

Full Hookup members can add their location to the map:

  1. Go to Member Map from your dashboard sidebar.
  2. Click Add My Pin (or Edit My Pin if you already have one).
  3. Set your location by searching for an address or placing the pin on the map.
  4. Choose your precision level, visibility, and expiration settings (see below).
  5. Click Save to place your pin.

Precision Levels

You control how precisely your location is shown to other members:

  • City — Shows your general city area only. This is the recommended setting for most members.
  • State — Shows only your state, with no specific location.
  • Exact — Shows your precise location on the map. Use this only if you’re comfortable sharing your exact position (for example, at a public campground).

Visibility Settings

  • Public — Your pin is visible to all members who can view the map.
  • Private — Your pin is hidden from other members. Only you can see it on the map.

Pin Expiration

Since work campers move frequently, you can set your pin to automatically expire:

  • Choose an expiration period (e.g., 7 days, 30 days, 90 days).
  • When the expiration date passes, your pin is automatically removed from the map.
  • You can also choose No Expiration if you want your pin to stay until you remove it manually.

Editing or Removing Your Pin

You can update your pin at any time by returning to the Member Map and clicking Edit My Pin. To remove your pin entirely, click Remove Pin — it disappears from the map immediately.

Map Controls

Use the map’s zoom and pan controls to explore different areas. Click on any member’s pin to see their display name and location details (based on their precision setting).
