Work camping in Wyoming — common questions

What's the typical work-camping season in Wyoming?
Wyoming's work-camping season is tightly bounded. Most state park host positions run May 15 through September 15 — a 4-month window. Yellowstone-gateway concessionaire jobs cluster in June through September. Jackson Hole and Grand Teton-area resorts have summer and winter (ski) seasons but limited shoulder. The Cody/Sheridan/Buffalo eastern Wyoming corridor has the more flexible calendar within the state.
What pay range should I expect for camp jobs in Wyoming?
Pay rates for Wyoming work-camping positions cluster between $20.00/hour and $33.00/hour for most positions, based on listings currently in our database. Camp host roles that include a free RV site typically pay at the lower end. Maintenance, front-desk lead, and activities-coordinator positions pay at the higher end. Some volunteer state-park host positions trade work hours for a free full-hookup site instead of a paycheck — the site itself is often worth $600-$1,500/month in equivalent value.
Do Wyoming campgrounds typically provide an RV site?
Wyoming state park host sites include a free campsite for the host period. Yellowstone and Grand Teton concessionaire positions almost always include staff housing because there's nowhere else nearby to live. Dude ranches across the state typically include cabins or RV sites plus meals.
Which Wyoming state parks hire work campers?
Yes — Wyoming State Parks, Historic Sites & Trails (SPHST) runs a vibrant camp host program. Hosts reside at a state park or historic site from May 15 through September 15 (the entire 4-month operating window). 2-month minimum commitment. Compensation is a free campsite. First-come, first-served placements made in October-November of the prior year, so apply early. Background check required (results within a week). Couples have days off together.
